City Gardens Inspire and Raise Money

Thornden Park is one of Syracuse’s jewels – and if you’ve never visited the park, strolled through the Mills Rose Garden or watched Shakespeare performed in the Amphitheatre then you are truly missing out on what a city green-space is all about.  From the laughter of children swimming in the pool to the scent of roses and picnic BBQ’s, Thornden Park provides a cool retreat in the summer and seasonal activities throughout the year.

Sunday, June 10th from 1-4 PM the Thornden Park Association will be hosting its annual city garden tour in and around Syracuse University.  Tickets can be purchased at the Thornden Park Field House for just $10.  Proceeds from this unique tour will benefit the ongoing park revitalization efforts of the association. The creators of these wonderfully crafted gardens will be on hand to discuss their inspiration, plants and plans – sharing their vision of city gardening in a culturally diverse and topographically challenging area.

The tour is self-guided and held rain or shine – be sure to send us photos of your favorite plants or other happenings at beautiful Thornden Park.
