Garden Tour to Support Thornden Park!

Rose Garden.Thornden Park (1) smallerThe Thornden Park Association will be holding their 22nd annual Garden Tour on Sunday, June 15th, 2014, rain or shine, and will feature unique gardens and their designers throughout the Syracuse University neighborhood.

The day of the tour, tickets may be purchased starting at 12:00 PM, on sale for $10. at the Field House in Thornden Park.  A map of these selected gardens will be provided with self guided tours beginning at 1 PM, and ending at 4:30 PM. These maps will provide the location and the history of each garden.

As stated by the association,  “ while each garden has its own striking character and purpose, all share a common respect for the neighborhood’s dramatic topography, regional native plants, and creative use of outdoor space. Above all, the owners of each property will be available to answer questions and to discuss their plants and concepts. The gardens and the gardeners reflect what is unique about the university neighborhood–the diverse interests of its residents and their particular talents.”

Formed in 1983, Thornden Park Association uses the garden tour’s proceeds to continue restoration efforts at the Park, but aren’t we lucky to have a glimpse into the beautiful world of Syracuse gardens as well?

If you attend – please send photos and comments on your favorite garden!
